Driving tests to restart 12th April 2021
Maybe some good news finally! The Government have announced that driving tests will be able to restart on Monday 12th April 2021. We assume this includes theory tests at this moment in time as well.
We are currently awaiting an announcement from the DVSA in regards to when driving lessons can recommence.
It make sense to allow driving lessons to restart 1 or 2 weeks before testing resumes so that learners can get in some long-awaited practice before taking their driving test. This would coincide with the 29th March date where the Government reduce the restrictions from the first step which is the 8th March 2021.
Allow driving instructors to pass learners unable to book a test.

Review of The Highway Code, to improve road safety for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
Consultation seeking views on proposed changes to The Highway Code, to improve safety for vulnerable road users, particularly the groups of:
Cyclists, Pedestrians and Horse riders
The main alterations to the code being proposed are:

Clarifying existing rules on pedestrian priority on pavements, to advise that drivers and riders should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross the road.
Providing guidance on cyclist priority at junctions to advise drivers to give priority to cyclists at junctions when travelling straight ahead.
Establishing guidance on safe passing distances and speeds when overtaking cyclists and horse riders.
